Hangul is an alphabet: each syllable block combines a consonant, a vowel and sometimes a final consonant. To write a foreign name, Koreans split it into syllables by sound. Emma becomes 엠마 (em-ma), and Chris becomes 크리스 (keu-ri-seu) — Korean adds a soft “eu” (ㅡ) vowel to consonants that stand alone.
Learn every letter on the Korean alphabet pronunciation chart, or turn your name into decorative copy-paste text with the Korean font generator.
Type your name in English above. The generator spells it phonetically in Hangul — how it sounds, not what it means. Korean has no letters for some English sounds (like f, v, th and z), so they are replaced by the closest Korean sound: f → ㅍ (p), v → ㅂ (b), th → ㅅ/ㅌ.
It is a close approximation. Korean speakers sometimes spell the same English name in more than one way (for example Kevin can be 케빈 or 캐빈). For anything permanent like a tattoo, confirm with a native speaker.
