How to Get the Korean Font in League of Legends
The Korean LoL client uses a clean, bold Hangul font that many players love. Here’s how to switch your client to Korean — plus Korean-style names you can copy.
Method 1: Change the language in the Riot Client (recommended)
- Open the Riot Client and sign in.
- Click your profile icon and open Settings.
- Choose League of Legends in the sidebar.
- Under Language, select 한국어 (Korean) if it is available for your region.
- Let the client download the language files, then launch the game.
Method 2: Locale in the client settings file (advanced)
If Korean isn’t offered in your region, some players edit the client config file. This is unofficial — back up the file first and expect updates to undo it.
- Close League of Legends and the Riot Client completely.
- Open your install folder, usually
C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\Config\. - Open
LeagueClientSettings.yamlin Notepad and change the locale line tolocale: "ko_KR". - Save the file. Some players also set it to Read-only (right-click → Properties) so the client doesn’t reset it.
- Start the game from the Riot Client. To undo, change the value back (for example
en_US) and remove read-only.
Korean-style names for League of Legends
Want your name to look Korean in chat or your Riot ID? Use the Korean font generator to copy Hangul versions of your name or decorative styles. A few ideas:
Which font does the Korean LoL client use?
Riot uses its own licensed typefaces in the client, which can’t be downloaded for free. If you want a similar clean, modern Hangul look for thumbnails or montages, try Pretendard or Noto Sans KR; for an esports vibe, try Gugi or Black Han Sans.
Frequently asked questions
Will switching to Korean change the voice-overs too?
Usually yes — changing the client language switches both the text and the champion voices to Korean. Many players actually prefer the Korean voice-overs.
Will I get banned for using the Korean client language?
Selecting a language in the official Riot Client settings is a normal option. Editing game files is a grey area and can be overwritten by updates, so use the official setting whenever it is available. This site is not affiliated with Riot Games.
Can I put Korean letters in my Riot ID?
Riot IDs accept many non-Latin characters. Use our Korean name generator to turn your name into Hangul and paste it in — if a character is rejected, try a simpler version.
