How to Install Korean Fonts

Install free Korean fonts on Windows, Mac and Microsoft Word, type in Korean, and use Hangul fonts on your website, in Canva or Photoshop.

Install a Korean font on Windows 10 / 11

  1. Pick a font from the free Korean fonts list and press Download.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file (right-click → Extract All).
  3. Right-click the .ttf or .otf file and choose Install for all users (or Install).
  4. Alternatively, open Settings → Personalization → Fonts and drag the file into the window.

Install a Korean font on Mac

  1. Download and unzip the font.
  2. Double-click the .ttf / .otf file — Font Book opens.
  3. Click Install. The font is now available in Pages, Keynote, Word and design apps.

How to install a Korean font in Microsoft Word

Word uses the fonts installed on your computer, so first install the font on Windows or Mac. Then:

  1. Close and reopen Word.
  2. Select your text and choose the font from the font menu — Korean fonts are often listed by their English name (e.g. Nanum Gothic) and sometimes by their Korean name (나눔고딕).
  3. In Word, Korean text may use the “Asian text” font setting: open Format → Font (or the font dialog with Ctrl+D) and set Asian text font to your Korean font.
  4. To share the document, embed the font (File → Options → Save → Embed fonts in the file) or export to PDF.

Use a Korean font on your website

Load a free Korean web font from Google Fonts and set it in CSS:

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Noto+Sans+KR:wght@400;700&display=swap" rel="stylesheet">

body { font-family: 'Noto Sans KR', sans-serif; }

Korean fonts on iPhone and Android

Phones already include a Korean system font, so Hangul displays everywhere. Changing the system font isn’t generally supported (some Samsung and Xiaomi phones offer font themes). For social media, use copy-and-paste Korean font styles instead — they keep their look in any app.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t my Korean font show up in Word?

Close Word completely and open it again after installing — apps only load the font list when they start. If you installed the font only for your user, try “Install for all users”.

How do I type Korean on my keyboard?

Add a Korean keyboard layout. On Windows: Settings → Time & language → Language & region → Add a language → Korean. On Mac: System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources → + → Korean → 2-Set Korean. Switch with Win+Space or Ctrl+Space.

Will the person I send my Word file to see the Korean font?

Only if they have the font installed, or if you embed it: in Word for Windows go to File → Options → Save → “Embed fonts in the file”. Exporting to PDF is the safest way to share.
